Awas Virus HOAX

[Penulis: Feri Sulianta]Virus Hoax, seperti namanya yang hanya bualan (hoaxes), demikian pula virus kategori ini. Sebenarnya tidak ada kode-kode virus yang digunakan dalam penyebarannya. Aksinya dijalankan karena informasi yang disebarkan berhasil memanipulasi orang-orang untuk berpikir bahwa memang ada sesuatu yang ‘penting’, sehingga orang yang membacanya diyakinkan untuk menjalankan aksi yang didasari oleh berita bohong belaka.

Umumnya informasi demikian disebarkan melalui e-mail. Virus Hoax bisa sangat berbahaya, karena dapat memanipulasi orang-orang untuk melakukan penghapusan file penting. Penyebarannya pun dilakukan dengan mengelabui orang-orang yang menerimanya untuk menyebarkan informasi tersebut ke rekan-rekan yang lain sebagai peringatan penting.

Berikut beberapa Virus Hoax yang terkenal : MSN is closing down, A virtual card for you, Meninas da Playboy, Bill Gates fortune, JDBGMGR, Justice for Jamie, Hotmail hoax, Budweiser frogs screensaver, Bonsai kitten, Olympic torch.
Virus Hoax dapat diklasifikasikan kedalam beberapa kategori:

• Peringatan Malware: peringatan adanya Viruses, Worms and Trojans. Misalnya : Win a holiday, teddy bear hoaxes.
• Urban Myth, misalnya: Columbia Explosion dan World Trade Center.
• Give Aways – Gift / hadiah. Misalnya : Gratis blackberry, ipod, handphone, Get More monet, dsb.
• Inconsequential warnings (peringatan yang tidak benar) misalnya : Pesan yang berbicara atas nama perusahaan ternama
• Pesan-pesan simpati dan pesan minta tolong
• Chain Letter (Pesan berantai) :Chain letters memiliki modus yang berbeda sewaktu berusaha meyakinkan orang-orang untuk mengirimkan pesan kepada rekan-rekan/kenalannya. Beda dengan hoaxes pada umumnya, chain letter menawarkan uang, juga menjanjikan keberuntungan sebagai imbalan bagi yang mengirimkan e-mail. Chain letter mengeksploitasi rasa simpati orang dan mengiming-imingi uang.
• Pesan-pesan ancaman.
• Scam Letters (surat yang berisi penipuan) yang menyakinkan penerimanya untuk memberikan informasi personal dan informasi kartu kredit yang seakan dikirim oleh: PayPal, IRS and AOL.

MICROSOFT VIRUS ALERT!!!If you receive an email with the title "GET MORE MONEY", DO NOT OPEN IT UNDER .. .. … DELETE all emails with this title AT ONCE! VIRUS HOAXES- Jdbgmgr.exe virus hoax
Virus hoaxes jdbgmgr.exe mulai muncul sebagai e-mail spam pada tahun 2002, yang memanipulasi user untuk menghapus file dengan nama jdbgmgr.exe dan mengatakan bahwa file tersebut adalah virus dengan ikon teddy bear. Sebenarnya file jdbgmgr.exe adalah file Microsoft Windows yang valid dan bukan file virus. Banyak versi pesan dari virus hoaxes, seperti dalam bahasa Perancis, Inggris, Polandia, Italia, Jerman, Belanda.

Virus Hoaxes Jdbgmgr.exe ( versi bahasa inggris) :
I found the little bear in my machine because of that I am sending this message in order for you to find it in your machine. The procedure is very simple:
The objective of this e-mail is to warn all Hotmail users about a new virus that is spreading by MSN Messenger. The name of this virus is jdbgmgr.exe and it is sent automatically by the Messenger and by the address book too. The virus is not detected by McAfee or Norton and it stays quiet for 14 days before damaging the system.
The virus can be cleaned before it deletes the files from your system. In order to eliminate it, it is just necessary to do the following steps:
1. Go to Start, click "Search"
2.- In the "Files or Folders option" write the name jdbgmgr.exe
3.- Be sure that you are searching in the drive "C"
4.- Click "find now"
5.- If the virus is there (it has a little bear-like icon with the name of jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT OPEN IT FOR ANY REASON
6.- Right click and delete it (it will go to the Recycle bin)
7.- Go to the recycle bin and delete it or empty the recycle bin.
IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS IN ALL OF YOUR SYSTEMS SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL OF YOUR CONTACTS LOCATED IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK BEFORE IT CAN CAUSE ANY DAMAGE.
